You might have noticed that a customer's contact information(name, mailing address, etc.) can't be changed on the Applicant tab of a quote or application. That's because quotes and applications refer back to the initial customer record for those values. If you'd like to correct that information, you'll need to get back into the customer profile.

Enter the customer's last name and click Search
Click View next to the appropriate record
Click Edit Customer

Once you've saved your changes to the customer profile, you can get back to your quote via Manage Policy → Quote/App Search. Any changes you've made will be reflected on your quote or unbound application.

If you can't find a particular policy through Atlas, it's because the agency code you're logged in under isn't the agency code specified on that record.

This can happen for a few reasons:
  1. The license number you logged in with is attached to the wrong agency.
    • This can occur if you leave one agency and join another.
  2. Your agency has many different branches and you're not logged in under the right one.
    • Typically, each branch will have its own agency code and login information.
  3. The insured filed an agent of record request and the policy no longer belongs to you.
In order to check the agency code and name under which you're logged, click "Home" and look in the top left hand corner as highlighted below:

Quotes, applications, and other policy reports from the Atlas Rating System are offered as pdf documents rendered in pop-up windows. If you have pop-ups blocked, you won't be able to print your applications and, as a result, you won't be able to submit them. Listed below are some common plugins, toolbars, and applications that block pop-ups. Clicking on any of these links will bring you to a section that will show you how to disable it.

Internet Explorer's built-in pop-up blocker can be turned off through the Tools menu. On the Tools menu there is a submenu for Pop-Up Blocker. On the Pop-Up Blocker submenu, simply select Turn Off Pop-Up Blocker. If you don't have the option to turn the pop-up blocker off or you're still not receiving pop-ups, you should check to see if you have any toolbars installed.

A window will pop up with Windows Live Toolbar Options. Select Pop-Up Blocker from the menu to the left. Then type *.atlasbridge.com and click the Add Button. In some cases, the security settings you have in place can cause Atlas to function improperly. This can usually be remedied by adding Atlas to your list of trusted sites. In order to do so, you'll need to get into the Trusted Sites section of the Security panel. The whole process is broken down into the 4 steps below.

If you're getting a blank pop-up window while attempting to print, it's usually an indication that there is an update for your version of Adobe Reader. You can do one of two things at this point. You can either patch your version with Adobe's download manager or you can download the newest version from Adobe.com.

Choice #1: I want to patch my version
Try to print
Minimize the blank window
Minimize each window under that until you see the Adobe Update dialogue
Either dismiss the dialogue or update your software

Choice #2: That didn't work or I'd rather just download the newest version
Close the blank window
Go to Adobe's Website (opens in a new window)
Download Adobe Reader (linked from their main page)
Proceed with the installation, following the directions

If you're getting a save-dialogue when you try to print, it's likely that you don't have Adobe Reader installed. Our quotes, applications, and policy reports are offered as pdf documents. Without Adobe Reader, your computer can't open the pdf and instead offers you the chance to save it.

When you print a quote or application and the wrong customer's information appears on the document, it's likely that you'll need to delete your cookies and temporary internet files. You'll also need to check your settings to prevent this from happening in the future.

On rare occassion you may experience an Error Retrieving Geocode Data while trying to verify a property address. When this occurs, you'll simply need to manually enter the risk data, just as you would if there was no property match at all.

Territory and Municapility Codes can be found here. You will use the same municipality code for both Police and Fire Municipality.

Occassionally, you might experience an inability to find a quote or application that you've worked on recently. When this occurs, Atlas' data retention policy is to blame. When you create a customer, a timer starts ticking down from 90 days. If you don't have an application submitted for that customer within the 90 day timeframe, the customer and all quotes and unbound applications created for him will be purged from the system. That's to say that it doesn't matter when you last updated a quote or application. If you haven't submitted an application, you're still subject to that 90 day expiration period.

Unfortunately, at UPCIC's request, Atlas doesn't take wind-mitigation factors, i.e.: hurricane shutters, shape of roof, etc., into consideration. Instead, you're required to mail a completed Shutter Credit & Wind Mitigation Form along with your submitted application. The carrier will then review the documentation to determine whether or not a credit should be applied.
End of the Wind Mitigation Credit Section
We've recently been made aware that our agents haven't been properly instructed in accurately surcharging for No Prior Insurance during the quoting process.

There are three values taken into consideration in order to determine whether Atlas will apply a surchage.

Purchase Information
  1. Prior Insurance?
  2. New Home Purchase/Lease?
  3. Date of Purchase/Lease?

Here's a table outlining which conditions will cause Atlas to surcharge for No Prior Insurance:

Prior Insurance? New Home Purchase/Lease? Purchased/Leased Within Last 45 days? Will This Be Surcharged?
yes no N/A no1
no yes yes no
no no N/A yes
no yes no yes

1 Keep in mind that if you don't provide UPCIC with supporting documentation for whichever condition exempts you from the surcharge, ie.: a DEC page for prior insurance, a settlement agreement for a new purchase, or a lease agreement for a new lease, then UPCIC will apply a surcharge after the fact.
End of the No Prior Insurance Surcharger Section
Atlas will apply the Dwelling 36 Years or Older Surcharge to any property 36 years or older unless appropriate updates have been made. If you don't provide documentation to support the updates you've specified, then UPCIC will apply a surcharge after the fact.

Update Information
  1. Electrical
  2. - Updated within the past 35 years
  3. Heating
  4. - Updated within the past 35 years 1
  5. Roof
  6. - Updated within the past 15 years 2

1 This update restriction only applies in counties that require heating.
2 This 15 year restriction only applies to roofs composed of shingle or wood. Otherwise, the roof is subject to the same 35 year stipulation as the other systems.

The replacement cost calculator for the HO6 is only intended to consider very limited criteria. If you attempt to answer anything other than the questions listed below, the RCE will likely fail.

End of the Why Do I Get an Error on the HO6 RCE? Section
Unfortunately, some of our agents are under the mistaken impression that when they click Save Replacement Cost the system will save all their answers from the previous page. When a replacement cost is calculated for a quote or application, you are given the option to save it. However, when you choose to save the replacement cost, that's exactly what you're saving, "the replacement cost." From then on you can view the replacement cost on the Rating panel.

In short, "No, you don't." You can use any replacement cost estimator you'd like. However, if you choose to use a third party replacement cost estimator, like Citizens, you'll need to keep a copy of the estimate for your records. It would behoove you to attach a copy to your application as well.

A Submit Code is a unique combination of numbers and/or letters printed on the third page of an application. The Submit Code is used as a measure of accountability, forcing agents to view the printed form of an application before being able to submit it. Additionally, in changing the Submit Code every time an application changes, this further forces the agent to ensure that the insured has signed an application that coincides with the application submitted through Atlas.

Submit Codes can change for one of 3 reasons:
  1. You made a correction on the application after printing it
  2. Atlas updated the application
    • i.e.: automatically updating the effective date from yesterday to today
  3. The application was reprinted
    • Everytime you print an application a new submit code is generated

Scroll to the bottom of the 3rd page.

End of the What is a Submit Code? Section
If Atlas doesn't accept your submit code...

... one of two things has happened:
  1. You mis-typed the code.
  2. There is another code you're supposed to be using instead.
If you're absolutely certain you've typed the code exactly as it's printed, with attention to the case of each letter, simply cancel the submit dialogue and reprint the application; a different code will appear on the new application.

End of the Why Won't Atlas Accept My Submit Code? Section
On rare occassion you may experience an Error Submitting Application.

When you experience an error like this, your application...
  • will print as bound
  • will print without a policy number
  • will not allow you to submit again
When these errors occur, the Atlas staff is notified automatically. A policy number will have to be generated manually, usually within one to twenty-four hours. Once a policy number is generated, you'll be able to search the customer through Policy Search or print out an application with the policy number on it.
